Happy Birth Day To You….!!!
Today is that auspicious day when a bright light came to Bharat and illuminated the whole Cosmos. On this day Narendra Datta was born, the king of men (Narendra). And he is none other than Swami Vivekananda, The Orator of Divine Light. He is one of the greatest Spiritual Leader from the great soil of India. If you ever felt low in your life, please read philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. Here’s something about this great personality.
Swami Vivekananda (Narendranath Datta) was born in Kolkata on 12 January 1863. His father, Vishwanath Datta, was a successful attorney and his mother, Bhuvaneshwari Devi, was endowed with deep devotion, strong character and other qualities. A precocious boy, Narendra excelled in music, gymnastics and studies. Born with a yogic temperament, he used to practise meditation even from his boyhood, and was associated with Brahmo Movement for some time.
He accepted Shri Ramakrishna as his Guru and started his journey to find himself. Within a few years two events occurred that brought a great responsibility on the young shoulders of Narendra. The first was the death of his father and the second was the illness of his guru. He had no job and had brothers, sisters and a mother to feed. In spite of poverty at home and inability to find a job for himself, Narendra joined the group as its leader. At the age of 24 he took vow to remain sanyasee and thereby Narendra become Vivekananda.
Vivekananda found himself and decided to preach people the vedic philosophies and the knowledge of atman. He decided to explore India and know what are the problems the masses facing in their daily life. Upon a very thorough study he came to conclusion that the masses needed two kinds of knowledge: secular knowledge to improve their economic condition, and spiritual knowledge to infuse in them faith in themselves and strengthen their moral sense. And to bring this into effect hi founded a dedicated organization, “Ramakrishna Mission” .
He decided to attend the World Parliament of Religions so as to spread the message of his guru’s teachings. With help of the funds collected by his disciples and the raja of Khetri, he managed to attend the parliament. He started one of his speech at the parliament with, “Sisters and Brothers of America”. To these words he got a standing ovation from a crowd of seven thousand, which lasted for two minutes. With his speeches made him famous as an ‘orator by divine right’ and as a ‘Messenger of Indian wisdom to the Western world’.
One of my all time quote that inspires me from within is,
“Awake, Arise And stop not till the goal is achieved.” – Swami Vivekananda
Folks know from where you belong and what you really are, what your responsibilities are and what potential you hold. You can do whatever you wish to do. Cause anything is possible.
This is what I have learned from Swami Vivekananda. And I wish the same for you. I have a simple formula to achieve this, The LCM – Love Compassion And Meditate. Try to apply this to simplify the equation of life.
And Yes, today is National Youth Day. Your Bday.
